This is a high-quality post-war
reproduction
of the Prussian / German Imperial Iron Cross First Class (1914) of WWI.
It has the Prussian crown on the top arm, a “W,” for Kaiser Wilhelm II, in the center, and the year “1914,” the year WWI began and the medal was authorized for awards, on the bottom arm.
Please take note of the sturdy flat pin. Such a pin would be fed through two vertical loops sewn onto the tunic by a tailor.
Beware of cheap replicas with pointed wire pins.
